MVM – Acts of Love pt. 4

Simple instructions to live life by.

MVM – Fellowship

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you are the Day approaching” – Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)

Summer is here! School is over!

It’s an exiting time when you finally break for summer, but it always made me a sad not to see my fiends on a regular basis. Sure we’d make plans to go swimming and play video games, but its just not the same as spending everyday together. Usually people go on vacation with their families, or maybe you have a summer job. It takes more effort on your part to maintain the relationships that are important to you.

It is the same with your Christian life. We were created as relational beings. We live in relationship with God and with each other. God often uses the people in our life to encourage when we’re feeling low. I find this even more important today when we can be so isolated with our cellphones and tablets. It’s surprising how lonely we can feel sometimes…

So I want to encourage each of you to
1. Commit this verse to your memory.
2. Spend time with other people, in person!

Who is someone you haven’t seen in a while?

MVM – Rest

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” – Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

After reading through my bible and hearing Tom’s talk at Crossroads last night, I am convinced that the only was we can attain peace and security is in the presence of God. Do you feel anxious? Stressed? Restless? Draw close to God.

The psalms also say that men find refuge in the shadow of God’s wings. (36:7). I have this image of us walking with God along a path. Sometime we get distracted and start to lag behind. At other times we rush ahead, wanting to accomplish things faster or see what’s over the horizon. But when we do this, we leave God’s presence and the security of His shadow.

If you have these anxious feelings, take a moment to sit with God. Stay in His presence, blocking all of life’s distractions, and receive peace. Calm the stresses of your mind in the safety of His wings. Find rest in Him.

So who is setting the pace in your walk?
