MVS – MATTHEW

How do you choose just one verse from Matthew to memorize or reflect over???

Answer: You don’t! This is only a taste of the Gospel of Matthew, just like the other verses were only a taste of their respective books. I encourage you to go back and read more of the Bible whenever you can!

Matthew 28:18-20

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

MVS – ZECHARIAH

Zechariah 9:12

Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;
    even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

The first time I read this verse, I was frankly unimpressed. I didn’t really understand what the Lord was declaring in these words. But think about it for a second, “I will restore twice as much to you.” WHAT?!

Can you imagine your teacher saying, “Don’t worry about the points you lost on this test, I’m going to give you back double.” I can’t!

Is our Lord not amazing that He has promised to give back to us two times what we have lost. How deep the Father’s love for us.

MVS – Haggai

Haggai 1:9

You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.”

Have you been paying attention to God’s house? YOU are the temple of God. When you are busy thinking “Me! Myself! and I!”, you don’t have time to think about “Me and God”.

Are their places in your life where you could think “God and I” more often?

MEMORY VERSE SUNDAY – ZEPHANIAH

As my march break comes to an end I can’t help but feel stressed at all the work I’ve neglected to do and a bit of anxiety going back to school and my busy busy schedule. But all these feelings fall away as we trust in God. I leave you with these encouraging words.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

The Lord your God is with you,
    the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
    in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
    but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Despite the trials in our lives, when everything seems to be going horribly wrong and nothing is going right, we will always find joy in the Lord and REJOICE!

It’s not an easy task, and at times it may be very difficult to find a smile when things are tough. But always remember that there is joy to be found in the Lord.

MEMORY VERSE SATURDAY – MICAH

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
    And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
    and to walk humbly with your God.”

The number of times I sang this song when I was with GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meet the Savior – kind of like girl scouts) is HUGE. I LOVE this song, and the verse!

As 2016 progresses I challenge you to ACT JUSTLY, LOVE MERCY, and WALK HUMBLY WITH OUR GOD.
